How to get brand deals as a small creator in Nigeria

By the Korareel team · Updated

You don't need a million followers to get paid by brands. Many Nigerian businesses prefer small creators whose audience is local and actually listens. Here's how to go from zero to your first paid post, without being cheated.

Make a one-page rate card

Brands want proof, not promises. Put on one page: your handle and what you post about, your average views (not just followers), where your audience is, and what you offer with a price for each.

Take screenshots of your analytics so you can show them if asked. Never edit them; brands check.

A simple rate card: who you are, proof of reach, and what you offer.

Who to pitch, and how

  1. Start with businesses near you, or brands you already use and post about.
  2. Send a short, polite message: who you are, one idea for their product, your rate card.
  3. Offer something easy to say yes to, like one post, before a bigger package.
  4. Follow up once after a few days. Then move on.
From first message to getting paid.

Put it in writing before you post

A WhatsApp message they reply "yes" to is better than nothing. Write down: what you'll post, how many posts, when, how long it stays up, the price, and when you'll be paid. For new clients, ask for half upfront.

What to agree before you post anything.

No deals yet? Earn per view meanwhile

While you build your portfolio, pay-per-view campaigns let you work with brands straight away: you clip their content and get paid for verified views, with no pitching and no follower minimum. Each campaign you do is also proof you can show the next brand. See how pay-per-view works.

Stay honest

Always label paid posts as sponsored, using the platform's paid partnership tool or #ad. Don't promise results you can't control, like sales. Promise what you will do, then do it well.

Questions people ask

How many followers do I need for brand deals in Nigeria?

There's no fixed number. Local businesses often work with small creators whose audience is in the right city and engages. Show average views and audience location, not just follower count.

How much should I charge for a post?

Start with what your average views are worth to the brand, and price low enough to win your first few clients. Raise prices as your results and portfolio grow.

How do I avoid not getting paid?

Agree everything in writing first, ask new clients for half upfront, and send your invoice with clear bank details as soon as the post is live.
